We offer 3 types of frailcare services

A Modern Home In the Heart of George, Western Cape.

Frail Care

24hour nursing care for the frail and elderly. We have Daily activities are done from Monday to Friday with the help from a care worker.

Assisted Living

We have 3 levels of assisted care; Low-, Mid- and High Care. We assist and support each individual in their own units according to their needs.

Nursing Assistance

24 hour nursing care done by qualified staff. We offer care to the Assisted Living as per each individual’s requirement.

ASSISTED LIVING SERVICES

Assisted Living services is a paid service in addition to the Serviced Apartments for to owners and/or nominated occupants that require “extra care”, more specifically relating to domiciliary care.  Care services are based on the assumption that owners and/or nominated occupants are able to dress and bathe themselves and can prepare simple breakfast, make a cup of tea and a light snack using own provisions stocked in their fridge.  Lunch time meals are available with a certain number of meals that are provided and included in the monthly levy, laundry is done once a week, and the unit is cleaned once a week. Once an owner/nominated occupant has chosen to be on a pre-selected plan, monthly payment is compulsory even if the owner/nominated occupant is temporarily not present to receive the services.  Unless an occupier is not on a pre-selected plan, all services required will be charged on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Assisted Living duties for each payment plan selected typically include, but are not limited to:
  • Assessment of current and prospective residents;
  • Keeping of records;
  • Monitoring of vital data such as:
    Blood pressure
    Breathing tempo
    Pulse rate
    Temperature
    Testing of blood glucose levels [at least once in 6 months]
    Testing of cholesterol levels [at least once a year]’
  • Basic urine tests [once every month]
  • Monitoring and advising on medication;
  • Monitoring and advising on hygiene and physical care
  • Monitoring and advising on weight
  • Monitoring and advising on basic foot care
  • Monitoring and advising on hearing problems
  • Lunch time meals [served in dining room]
  • Laundry once per week [5 kilograms]
  • Cleaning of unit [once per week for 45 minutes]
Assisted Living health care consist of:

The Assisted Living service can be categorized into three types of care; however the needs of residents will differ and therefore the level of care will be tailored to suit the residents’ needs.

ASSISTED LIVING

LOW CARE

Assisted Living duties for each payment plan selected typically include, but are not limited to:
This care will be available to all residents and co-residents of the assisted living and shall include:
 
  • A medical service to cater for the application of medications, dressings, administration of injections, monitor tests and providing advice and reassurances;
  • The provision of a 24-hour medical response service by health care personnel to emergency;
  • Emergency Ambulance Service;
  • Liaising with each resident’s private doctor;
  • Nutrition monitoring;
  • Nurse visits;
  • The offering of a 3 (three)-course lunch for 20 (twenty) days per month;
  • The laundry of bed linen and towels once per week;
  • General laundry services for 1 (one) 5 (five) kilogram load of washing per week (excluding any dry cleaning);
  • The service of the apartment once per week for 45 minutes;
  • Personal hygiene evaluation;
  • Physical risk evaluation;
  • The provision of a 24-hour Nurse Call System for personal emergencies;
  • Administration of medical records.

ASSISTED LIVING

MID CARE

This care will be offered based on the needs of the resident and/or co-resident in consultation with their private doctor and the decision by the Service Provider: 
  • A medical service to cater for the application of medications, dressings, administration of injections, monitor tests and providing advice and reassurances;
  • The provision of a 24-hour medical response service by health care personnel to emergency;
  • Emergency Ambulance Service;
  • Liaising with each resident’s private doctor;
  • Nutrition monitoring;
  • Daily Nurse visits;
  • The offering of all meals being breakfast, 3 (three)-course lunch, and dinner;
  • The laundry of bed linen and towels twice per week;
  • General laundry services for all personal laundry (excluding any dry cleaning);
  • Daily servicing of the apartment;
  • Personal hygiene evaluation;
  • Physical risk evaluation;
  • The provision of a 24-hour Nurse Call System for personal emergencies;
  • Administration of medical records;
  • The provision of basic nursing services includes:
    • The administration of medicines (including injections) but excluding consumables;
    • Daily visits by nursing personnel;
    • Ordering, control and administration of medication;
    • General health monitoring in conjunction with the resident’s medical doctor;
    • Daily bathing and dressing assistance;
    • Daily making of beds;
    • The general engagement and supervising of an adequate complement of qualified staff to ensure that all the services as specified are provided.

ASSISTED LIVING

PERMANENT CARE

This service will be the same as for the frail care section of the property, but with the advantage that a resident may be accommodated in his or her own unit if at all possible for the Service provider. This care will be offered based on the needs of the resident and/or co-resident in consultation with their private doctor and the decision by the Service Provider.

This service includes all items listed above for Mid Care plus
  • regular supervision and monitoring during each day;
  • mobility in unit and to and from the common areas of the facility;
  • incontinence control and maintenance;
  • assistance with eating;
  • Laundry of bed linen and towels as needed;
  • all additional care and monitoring that may be required and that may be provided by the Service Provider;
  • Shower/bed bath patients;
  • 2-4 hourly pressure care;
  • Oxygen treatment as prescribed;
  • Wound dressings;
  • Take blood samples and send to lab;
  • Order medication from Pharmacy;
  • Emergency treatment as required;
  • Call patient doctor when required;
  • Accompany doctor to patient;
  • Organize multi-disciplinary team;
  • Call patient family when needed.
